Retention of tooth 17 Provided by Dr. Heiko Goldbecher, Images taken with the Veraviewepocs 3D CP

Case study 1

Retention of tooth 17 due to atypically formed tooth bud 18. The CBCT allowed ruling out synarthrophysis of tooth 17; thus, 18 was extracted surgically and, during the same procedure, a loop was applied to 17 for closed extrusion.

Case study 2

There is very little interradicular bone. There also is so little periradicular bone substance that the vestibular surfaces of the roots are not covered. Given that the covering of soft tissue is very thin and does not have very much connective tissue, special care must be taken during the orthodontic treatment.
