Yes! All DentaPort ZX apex locators can be extended with the OTR canal preparation module. It doesn't matter how old the device may be as the OTR module is fully backwards compatible.
Although you cannot retrofit an older contra angle head with internal electrodes however the newer contra angle heads are fully backwards compatible with the motor that you already have.
No. Only Morita's Soaric Treatment unit combines the Morita apex location technology and endodontic motor.
Please remember that the DentaPort combines an apex locator, endodontic motor and curing light all in one device. The foot pedal is optional and the unit runs on battery and does not need additional power cables to operate.
The DentaPort ZX motor can be controlled manually by a shortcut button combination. You may even use the optional foot pedal. The DentaPort ZX can be adpated to suit your needs and changed on the fly as required.
No. The DentaPort is self-calibrating and will do so independent of the canal conditions. Sterilize and disinfect the device as indicated in the Instructions For Use and replace the batteries as needed.
For the OTR module, when used frequently, an intact battery should have enough capacity for at least one up to several working days. It takes about 60 minutes to recharge completely. Should the battery’s capacity drop significantly, it can be replaced without any tools.
The built-in electrode is also subject to wear and should be replaced from time to time. In order to ensure that the electrode is always in good working order, it should be replaced after about 100 operating hours. A countdown timer is integrated into the DentaPort ZX and emits an acoustic signal when it’s time to replace the electrode.
The torque values that can be set are many times lower for OTR than those needed for the conventional Auto Torque Reverse. Consequently, any friction losses of the gear mechanism in the contra angle or motor hardly matter in connection with Auto Torque Reverse, but are significant with OTR.
